Design and Eggs

Gill and Company, I hope you enjoy my little blog sketchbook. I made this website to gather some of the things that i've been going through this semester. These posts are really just visual influences that i've left on my desktop, gathering pixel dust.
So I hope you are checking this out and I did'nt take too much time out of your guys marking schedule.

Have a great summer

-Nathan Grimson

P.S Gill! I may email you some logos and ask you advice on some of them.

Paul Rand

Man, i love Paul Rand's posters. The concept is quite simple but he totally pulls it off with the repitition of the image.
The type is quite reserved as well but really activates the image.

Two color graphic advertisements

get over the fact that this a vinyl record for selling alarms by playing horrible fire sounds and check out the simplicity of the colors and layout. YES!

is Neville Brody still relevant?

So Gill, What do you think?
Myself, his designs have become somwhat dated by the computer but his typographic treatments are pretty timeless.

the 12-inch canvas

Love the blue note albums from the 60s-70s
pure typographic genius!

more album designs

album design

I'm kinda in love with these typefaces right now. y'know a slab and a bit of serif - you cant' go wrong.

I Think Chip Kidd has been raiding Jamie Reid's closet

Is gill sans

Yes, yes it is.

late 70's snowmobile decals

I don't know why, but the color scheme for snowmobiles froms the 70s really appeals to me.

design influences 2

Tadanori Yookoo. This guy almost made my top 12 for the baseball card project. Can you imagine the pitch for this car ad?
This is just really exciting design from the 60's. his view of american pop from a japanese perpsective is pretty noticable in this car ad for mazda.

design influences

The montreal based screenprinting outfit seripop is one of my main influences this semester. There use of contrasting color, layers of information and just general weirdness provided me with inspiration for the taxidermy print.
